Random thought about life…

I’m wondering if life is just like the movies;  the Village, the Truman Show, or Hunger Games. where we buzz around everyday worrying about our crap while someone is off on another planet (or just the government) watching on their tv’s looking at us like we’re idiots, mocking the ridiculous beings we have become.

I would like to believe that when I die I will live again. That some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. But as much as I want to believe that, and despite ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an afterlife I know of nothing to suggest that it is more than wishful thinking. The world is so exquisite with so much love and moral depth that there is no reason to deceive ourselves with pretty stories for which there’s little good evidence. Far better is seems to me in our vulnerability is to look death in the eye and to be grateful everyday for the brief but magnificent opportunity that life provides

Stop signs.

When I look around, all I see is signs that tell everyone to STOP and YIELD and limit the speed we can more. What a way to discourage people. No wonder we live in a world of unmotivated people, every street we go on is telling us to quit. Better idea, have signs that encourage people, pushing us to GO and chase our dreams, to move, advance, to wander, explore, adventure, see, smell, touch, listen, taste, breathe, and live! Maybe then we can see progress, people who go right after their dreams and create the next big thing, not a plethora of people stuck, unsatisfied, unhappy, overweight, and unamused. A little encouragement might help people. Lets try that for a while and see the positive changes.

Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive, and the go do that. Because what the world needs is people who are alive

The adventure is not knowing what is going to happen next. It’s accepting that you don’t have control of the future, and all you have control of is now. Make the most of now.
